Tennis
Think you know all the rules in tennis? Check out some of these “weirder” ones—we’ve seen all 7 on the courts!
Golf
For those of you cooped up at home who can’t wait to chase that small round object around the golf course, pass the time by improving your “short game” – putting and chipping, which can account for up to 40% of your total shots in a round.
You don’t need a lot of space; just practice putting on your living room carpet or chip in your backyard.
Here are some simple tips from golf pro, Mark Shimamura:
Putting: Use a really light grip pressure and don’t move your head or knees during the stroke.
Chipping: Keep your weight and hands forward throughout the swing
Want to try it out? Check out these 5 simple chipping exercises you can do without leaving home.
The No. 1 ball in golf, is offering their once a year huge promotion – Buy 3 dozen and get 1 dozen FREE, with free personalization. Interested members can contact golf pro Mark Shimamura via email
Fitness
We have TWO yoga classes happening tomorrow:
9am yoga with instructor (and club member) Jackie de Crinis
5pm yoga with instructor Danielle Richardson
To join the classes (which are donation based), see our virtual fitness class calendar—there’s something happening every day!
Pickleball
With all the driveway pickleball courts popping up during the shutdown, we imagine we’ll have more pickleball players when we can all come back to the club! To help out some of the “newbie” players (as well as our seasoned vets), check out some of these beginner mistakes you’ll want to avoid on the court.
Maui Country Club Trivia
Did you know the golf course is 3,225 yards long? That’s 1.83 miles! Thankfully, even though golf is still shut down, we can still get out and walk or run the course. We’re thinking of putting together a leaderboard of fastest times on the course? What do you think?
