GoFundMe For Furloughed/Laid Off MCC Staff
Help us get Debbie Ford’s fundraiser for staff across the financial finish line!
A huge mahalo to all of our members who have graciously made a donation to our staff that are currently laid off or furloughed. The GoFundMe for MCC staff has a goal of raising $10,000 and is over 75% there!
Mahalo as well to all our great members who have continued to support the club and it’s staff by ordering takeout, leaving gratuities, and continuing to pay their monthly dues as we move toward an eventual re-opening. All of your efforts do not going unnoticed and the staff is eternally grateful!
Roger Federer made some headlines yesterday when he suggested this stoppage is the perfect time to finally merge the men’s and women’s professional tours into one unifying body. No—this doesn’t mean that men would play women, but rather that the sport would have a single professional body versus the current structure of the ATP and WTA existing in separate, but parallel realms. What do you think?
Meanwhile, closer to home, one of our most frequently asked questions in the tennis pro shop is about how to pick the proper racquet. While there are a lot of variables, this short video explains the basics of what to look for when choosing a racquet, based on your style of play.

Golf
We’ve all been there:
You play an enjoyable round with a friend, and for the most part it seems like you played at the same pace and were pretty even on the course. When it’s time to head to the clubhouse, however, one person’s scorecard is about 12 strokes lower—how was there such a big difference?
As you’ll see in the very short video below, a lot of the difference can be explained by repeatedly hitting short of the green. This, in turn, is often caused by inefficiencies by failing to connect with the sweet spot. More info in the video below—every bit of knowledge helps!
Fitness
We know it’s hard not being able to golf right now, but while we’re all waiting for the course to open back up, here’s a short video of 6 Simple Exercises For Golfers Over 50 that you can be doing to improve both flexibility and strength. No weights or gym gear required!
You know what they say: A great point begins with a great serve (actually we don’t know if anyone says that, but it seems to make a lot of sense).
To strengthen your serve on the pickleball court, check out this video for simple ways to improve technique, add accuracy and power, and up your game to the next level.
