Aloha Maui Country Club ‘ohana!
What a beautiful weekend we had at the club! Plenty of members have been fitness walking the course, heading out to the beach for a swim or a paddle, or simply dropping by for takeout lunch to see a familiar face.
Were it not for everyone showing up with masks (and mahalo for bringing masks!), it almost feels like the regular club, where friends swap stories, shakas, and smiles in the North Shore sunshine and breeze.
We truly feel blessed for the opportunity to serve each one of our members, and we look forward to seeing everyone soon as we move toward our eventual re-opening.
Aloha until then!
Club Dining
Another great lineup of specials today to go with the takeout lunch menu!
As a courtesy to our staff (and to stay compliant with the new government mandates), all members picking up takeout are asked to wear a mask. Mahalo!
Fish Special: Fish and Chips
Plate Lunch Special: Teri Beef and Chop Steak
“What’s with the Rice?” Special: Chili + Rice. Super ono!
Open for takeout 7 days/week from 11am-3pm (yes, even Monday!) Call (808) 877-4690 to place your order for takeout!
Calling all members with large flat rooftops! If you haven’t seen this video out of Italy, these quarantined tennis players have found a new way to practice depth and placement on their groundstrokes. Just watch out for the chimney!
“It’s interesting to realize how emotionally convenient it is to have a place to frequently play tennis.”
The personal connection out on the court is as much of a draw as the physical exertion and natural rush of endorphins.
It’s the cat and mouse of learning someone’s game, the mental jigsaw of success, and the cerebral-physical dichotomy that plays out every time you step on the court.
Throw in some lighthearted social banter (and maybe a drink from the bar after!), and it’s little wonder we all miss the game—hopefully we’ll be back soon!
Golf
With all the talk of modifications that are currently being made to golf courses, there’s talk of whether these “modified holes” still count toward scores for your handicap. According to this article on Golf.com, yes—a hole that’s been modified to change the depth of the cup is treated the same as a regular hole, at least for the time being.
On that note, are these the kinds of things we’ll start seeing on courses? Only time will tell!

Finally, while we don’t have to worry about some of these in Maui (Dead snakes? Burrowing rodents? Cactus? Oranges?), here are 7 of the most obscure rules in golf you’ve likely never heard of:
Fitness
Do you ever suffer from lower back pain or stiffness? Don’t worry—join the club!
Luckily there are a lot of simple stretches to alleviate stiffness and pain to the lower back you can do without leaving the comfort of your living room.

Pickleball
If you’re a tennis player who’s having an existential meltdown because you’ve started playing pickleball in lockdown (“I swore I’d never cross over to the dark side!”), we’re here to let you know it’s ok—the two sports can co-exist.
To ease your mind and help your growth, here are a couple of articles and videos that break down the benefits of starting to play pickleball—as well as what to stop doing.

My Maui Country Club At Home
The father and son tennis duo of Ben Falit and Noah Falit have been keeping up their hand-eye coordination with some mini tennis on the basketball court. Great to see you both picking up the sticks—you’ll have some wicked touch when we open back up!
