GoFundMe For Furloughed/Laid Off MCC Staff
A big shout out to member Debbie Ford who has created a GoFundMe for MCC staff who have either been furloughed our laid off during this temporary shutdown. Maui Country Club has 17 employees who have been laid off, and and 11 employees who have experienced at least a 50% reduction in hours.
Mahalo as well to all our great members who have continued to support the club and it’s staff by ordering takeout, leaving gratuities, and continuing to pay their monthly dues as we move toward an eventual re-opening. All of your efforts do not going unnoticed and the staff is eternally grateful!
Tennis
If you’re like us, we can’t WAIT for the chance to get back on the courts and play some social doubles! While we don’t know exactly how long that will be (more on that in the coming weeks), in the meantime, this helpful video answers some of those questions like “What do I do if my partner stays back?” and “How aggressive should I be at the net?”
Watch and learn for some practical tips for when we get back on the courts!
Golf
The grounds crew is hard at work today with regularly scheduled aeration on the greens and work on #4 and #5!
We’ll be removing the grass on 4 and 5 and re-sodding next week with seashore paspalum in anticipation of a May re-opening. Temporary greens are also being cut—perfect use of some downtime!
Fitness
Take your pick for tomorrow morning: Yoga at 8:30am with Reda or Tai Chi at 9am with Lorena?
Both are great options for kicking off the day and you can find the sign in links on the fitness calendar!
Fishing!
While Maui Country Club recommends that the best thing to do during this uncertain time is to shelter in place at home, if you do need to go out and get some fresh air and exercise on the golf course, fishing is still an essential activity that’s available here at your club!
Here’s a picture of member Matt Kerstein showing off a fish from this past 4th of July that was caught by son, Benjamin. Great father/son moment!
My Maui Country Club At Home
For some members, spending time at “home” means being on the water, and the Anderson family bas been putting fish on the table using SUP boards, surf leashes, and an OC-1 canoe. Nice papio!
We love engaging with all of our members and seeing what everyone’s been doing at home. Send us a photo of how you’re enjoying your favorite club activities and be entered into a drawing for a $50 statement credit once we re-open the club.
You can see the full list of all the entrants over on the blog page.

Special MCC History Project!
Have you been a club member for generations? Are you a Senior member? Super senior member? Maybe had parents that were members back in the day?
Our “Director of Virtual Operations” is working to collect old photos and stories that help tell the club’s lengthy 95-year history. There is SO much that’s happened here at the club, and we want to be able to archive and share it with newer members and guests.
If you’re looking for something to keep you busy at home, contact Kyle Ellison at kyle@mauicountryclub.org with photos, anecdotes, stories, and tales that tell the great history of our club.
Want to see something featured in the blog? Email our editor Kyle Ellison at kyle@mauicountryclub.org, and we look forward to seeing everyone soon!
