Aloha Maui Country Club ‘ohana! It’s been great to connect with our members this week who are joining us for takeout, coming to walk the course, or passing through to work out on the beach (and doling out social distancing hugs!) We’ll sure miss having our Easter egg hunt tomorrow, but we’re wishing you the happiest of holidays at home while enjoying this time with family.
Until then, here’s today’s info!

Tennis
By now a lot of people have seen the article that saying tennis may not survive the shutdown. Before we freak out, the article is referencing professional tennis and is referring to players outside the top 100 who struggle to earn enough prize money. How will they stay fit? Where will they train? And will they need to get outside employment and give up tennis all together?
One player (Sofia Shapatova) is petitioning the ITF to provide financial assistance, but it does raise an interesting point of what will happen to aspiring pros, and when they’ll be able to play again. Hopefully it’s soon!
Golf
If you haven’t heard, The Masters has been officially rescheduled for November, so it’s still going to happen this year!
Here’s an article from ESPN exploring What Augusta National Might Look And Play Like For A Fall Masters, and since we won’t be able to watch it this April, we’ll have to re-live some local golf magic, with a flashback to February, 2019, when Mike Sass shot this 92-yard hole in one on #16. He used a Cobra F Max pitching wedge and a Bridgestone e6 soft ball. Great shot!
Fitness
Have you taken a lap in the saltwater pool? Or done pull-ups while running the sand hill? There are lots of great fitness options right out our front door—blessed to be here on the North Shore!
You can also enjoy a stroll on the golf course, which is almost two miles if you walk the whole 9.
For virtual fitness or yoga classes, take a look at the Virtual Fitness Calendar to see what classes you can join this next week!
Pickleball
Did you know you that the average pickleball player takes 7,000 steps during a 90-minute match? Or that playing pickleball burns 350-400 calories?* (Statistics are for singles play).
You can read more about the health benefits of pickleball, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the courts!
My Maui Country Club At Home
Great to see Melissa Nickens and Micah Nickens enjoying some sunset driveway tennis to keep the footwork fresh. Keep it up and you won’t have lost a step!
We love engaging with all of our members and seeing what everyone’s been doing at home. Send us a photo of how you’re enjoying your favorite club activities and be entered into a drawing for a $50 statement credit once we re-open the club.
You can see the full list of all the entrants here!
